excel对于我们来说是再熟悉不过了，谁没有过一段被表格折磨的岁月。但是但是！听到老外对你说“You excel me”，可千万别翻译成“你表格我”。虽然excel在国人眼里基本等同于表格。今天就和大家聊聊Excel除了表格还有什么意思吧。

一：Excel：超越，胜过
excel [ik'sel] 做动词主要有两个意思。一是：超越，胜过
所以当外国人跟你说“You excel me”，是指你胜过了他 / 她
例：
He always hopes that his son will excel him someday.
他总是希望他的儿子有天能胜过他。
除了excel，表达“超越，胜过”的单词还有：
1：surpass [s??pɑ?s]
例：
He was determined to surpass the achievements of his older brothers.
他决心超越几个哥哥的成就。
2：exceed[?k?si?d]
例：
They exceed us in number.
他们在人数上超过我们。

3：transcend [tr?n?send]
例：
We can't transcend the limitations of the ego.
我们无法超越自我的局限性。
4：Tower over
例：
Don't worry. Our team towered over them.
别担心，我们队比他们强。

二. Excel:擅长
excel [ik'sel] 做动词，还有“擅长”的意思，一般跟介词in搭配
例：
She excels in dancing.
她在舞蹈方面出类拔萃。
She excels in teaching English.
她擅长教英语。

除了excel，
表达“擅长”的单词还有：
1：expert at/in
在…方面熟练的
expert这个词作名词的时候，意思是“专家；能手”，后面可接介词on，at或in
比如：
He is an expert on/at/in lung diseases.
他是肺部疾病方面的专家。
作形容词的时候，表示“熟练的；内行的”，后面常接介词at或者in
比如：
He is expert at/in painting.
他的专长是画画。

2.be good at
善于...
例：
You have to be good at spotting trouble on the way and heading it off.
你必须善于发现潜在的麻烦并加以化解。
3.do well in 在……
某方面干得好
例：
He had a long head, he should do well in business.
他很精明，做买卖应该是一把好手。
4.have a talent for
有…的才能
例：
He has a talent for music.
他有音乐才能。

5.have a way with
善于同…打交道
例：
I have a way with people.
我很擅长跟人打交道，处理人际关系。
6.master of
精通…的能手
例：
She was a master of the English language.
她是英文高手。
7.be clever at
擅长于
例：
He's very clever at imitating his friends.
他非常擅长于模仿朋友的言行。

8.have a good head for
有才能
例：
Jane seems to have a good head for business.
简看起来很有经商的才能。
9.be accomplished in
擅长, 精于
例：
He is accomplished in numerous arts.
他精通各种技艺。

shine at
干得出色
例：
He shines at tennis.
他的网球打得好。

11.be skillful at
熟练；熟悉
例：
He is skillful at repairing bicycle.
他是修理自行车的能手。
12.be an old hand at
在 ... 方面富有经验
例：
He is an old hand at fencing.
击剑方面他是老手。
